Eric's Application
August 27, 2006

Jin and I hard at work.

For the past couple of weeks, Jin and I have been preparing an application form for her son Eric to enter a middle school in Los Angeles.  Her husband and her want Eric to study middle school & possibly high school and college in USA so he may have more opportunities available to him.  Collecting all the required information wasn't too difficult.  The hard part was taking all of this information from a Korean school and translating it into English so the school could understand what the heck they were looking for.

In the picture above, Jin is looking up a Korean word and it's English translation.  Some words and sentences translate easily but some Korean phrases and words are so poetic and sound so prolific, it's difficult to make them make sense in Korean.

What I learned today about Korea:  1)  Translating a ton of Korean pages into English will make you want to poke both of your eyes out with miniature dull butter knives.
