Wedding Party
April 08, 2006

I went out with a few friends tonight to relax and have a few beers.  We went to a local place called 나무 ("Na-moo" which means tree).  It's a quaint little place with a bar for American style drinking and comfortable booths for Korean style drinking.  As we were sitting at the bar with a few Coronas, a Korean gentleman came over from one of the enclosed booth areas.  It turned out that today was his wedding day and he wanted me to come over to congratulate them.

I happily agreed and walked over to the table with his new bride and friends.  He spoke good English and most of the party understood what I was saying.  The bride was certainly a blushing bride, almost tearing up when I spoke.  I told them that I have traveled all over the world and have had a good happy life, with much luck.  I grabbed both their hands and held them in mine and told them that I now pass along much happiness and luck to them both for them to have many years of happiness and many children.

They had a large card that I signed "Congradulations to the most beautiful couple in Korea and all the world!"

What I learned today about Korea:  1)  I think I spelled congratulations wrong on their card.
